I completed my Track using Cubase, am enjoying learning the software and am quite happy with the Track, have no idea what to call it though? Paul's Drum n Bass Assignment does not quite roll of the tongue. The MIDI research is done and uploaded.
Have managed to catch up a bit with the Web Design Unit having uploaded my research today as well, and am going to try and get the actual Web Page done using Dream Weaver, with the help of Robby, over the Christmas Break.

Cubase - 10.12.09 P.M
I have created two original tracks today using Cubase. I am going to try and get my self a copy of it over the weekend due to the fact that I am becoming rather addicted to it!
Over the weekend I am gonna finish the research.
01.02.10
I now have a copy of Cubase at home and spend quite a bit of time on it, I have only created two tracks so far, but they get better each time. I am currently working on a third, a sort of Trip Hop style tune, and have a very good feeling about it.

Cubase - 10.12.09
This morning I have created my first ever 'piece' of music on Cubase. I am finding that it is a brilliant bit of software and am looking forward to getting to grips with it proper!
Downloading loops from the web and inserting them into Cubase is really simple, once you have then matched the tempo of your loop to Cubase's internal metronome the rest of your loops will all match in tempo to the first, then you can start sequencing!

Cubase 09.12.09
Today we have started to use the software Cubase, first impressions are that i am really, really going to enjoy this Unit and hopefully will get allot out of it. Making music ( without being able to play a single instrument ) has been something I have always wanted to be to do.
At first glance the software appears to be quite intuitive to use and although appearances can often be deceptive I am optimistic.

Sequencing - Unit Seven - 07/12/09
Today we began the Sequencing Unit. Getting to grips with all the variety of different Hardware and Software that it is possible to use, is, at first very daunting. The first part of this Unit, which is research on exactly this variety of equipment is going to go along way towards helping me become more at ease with the unit in general.
I have been researching alot of MIDI devices including keyboards, synthesizers, samplers and some software including Cubase.
I am gaining confidence already and have a basic understanding of MIDI Studio that I did not have this morning, although I have along way to go!

12.11.09 - Web Design
I have managed to complete my three pages on who or what has contributed to the development of the W.W.W. though I have yet to re-wright it into my sketch book. I am quite happy with how it has come out. I still have not been able to finish the history of the web and have not even started on the rest of the assignment so it looks like a busy weekend is ahead of me.

11.11.09 Web Design
Today I have been continuing with the research on how the Internet emerged and who and what has aidded its development. I have been trying to follow a timeline
and to keep the technical side of it to a minimum. I have found that although the internet was born out of a military need their has been many more institutions and individuals who have all contributed to its creation.

22.10.09 P.M
John gave us a bit of a presentation on Photoshop as it applies to the Pen Tool which is a very handy tool and can be used for a variety of different applications. I have also been continuing with the advertising assignment which I will finish over half term.

21.10.09 P.M
The past week I had some personal stuff that I had to sort out, mostly to do with the Landlord. The downside of which means that I was a bit behind on the last assignment but since no one else needed to hand in their Sketch Books today hopefully it wont go against me to much.
We have also been given our next assignment which is based around advertising on the side of buses, we need to come up with two adverts, in rough, by tomorrow morning. We were given a list of companies/organisations to pick from and I went for the Greenpeace.

12.10.09
Today we have been continuing the advertising assignment, specifically how using the same image but changing the text can totally change an adverts message. We were set a task to find an image of a product and by using different text change the age range the product could be aimed at, from 10-16yrs, 16-19yrs, 20-25yrs and 35-45yrs old. I chose the Technics 1210's and printed four identical posters but added four different TAG LINES.
Also, on a completely different subject there was a really good program on last night about Disney Pixar, it was most entertaining.

07.10.09
Having still not finished Poster One due to not having enough relevant imagery i have had to draw some of my own. I sketched out a couple of sign posts with the legends 'W.M.D's HERE, POSSIBLY' and 'MAYBE OVER HERE'. Hopefully these will add a comic aspect to my poster. There are still some images that I need and I plan to visit The Cowley Club this afternoon for some ASSET gathering, also I will go to the L.R.C.

06.10.09 - S.D.S
I went in to the Cowley Club on London road today knowing that a lot, or most of Brighton's Political Activists frequent the place and having also, in my time been to one or two of there partys that they like to put on. Unfortuanatly they shut at four o.clock but the lady I spoke to has been very helpfull, telling me to come back any time (during opening hours) to use there library or have a cup of Free Trade coffee. I want to go back tomorrow to gather some ASSETS i.e pictures of the war that I scan.

05.10.09 / A3 Poster
This afternoon I have composed the majority of the first of my A3 posters, I believe it is going to come out well in the end and I intend to spend some time in the L.R.C tonight so I can find the rest of the images that I need. I am going to sketch out some of the images so they will count towards the scanned images needed for the assignment.
I am becoming more comfortable with Photoshop but i am still finding some of the tools needlessly complicated i.e the Bezier tool which on Paint.Net is allot simpler to use.
05.10.09 / photoshop ethics
This morning myself, Rob, Alex and Arron had a discussion about the ethics of Photoshop. I think the main points made were that generally Photoshop is a force for good in that everyday people now have the ability to edit, manipulate and even design there own photos or artworks, and Artists have a very power full tool in there 'box'. Even the Hubble Telescope uses similar software to enhance pictures from deep in space.
The thing that worries us, and people in general is that journalists and such are able to use Photoshop to miss lead and even blatantly lie to the public. We think there needs to be some government regulations to keep these peoplr in cheack.

01.10.09 second post
30.09.09
Today we learnt a bit about photography i.e 'what makes a good photo?'. This includes things like SCALE - the difference in size between images in your photo, SUBJECT MATTER - you want to try and take a photo that will make people think and also ANGLE, COLOR, DEPTH OF FIELD
which is everything behind and in front of the main focus of the photo.
We had an image of a soldier shaking hands with a child and, in groups, disscused what we thought made it a good image. We thought that it made us think because you wouldnt normaly see a soldier and a child together and also the difference in size between them i.e SCALE. There are also some locals in the backround which give it some DEPTH OF FIELD.
In the tutorials we disscused what qualities are needed to work well with others such as the ability to treat team members with respect, complete tasks given to you to the best of your ability and to have patience with your team.

29.09.09
Today I have been working on my Sketch Book. After pasting in my three Mock Ups, Voter Apathy, Ilegal Wars and Crash Gordon I wrote a quick summary next to them in pencil, then after a couple of re-writes and a cheack for spelling went over that in pen. Also I have done a sort of self analyses, what i could of done better or what images i could of added to get the messeage over clearer.

This is my Voter Apathy Mock Up. Out of the three this was definatly the hardest. Trying to get the message across without adding text of my own was tricky and I almost gave up to start on something else entirely but at the end I am glad that I stuck with it, not sure if it is easy to determine what the point i was trying to make but hey hey

This is my Mock Up titled 'Crash Gordon'. The message is basicly what has happened to british democracy and how come Mr Brown is Primeminister without a democratic vote. The main tools that i used to make this one, as well as the others, were a mixture of copy and paste and the scaling tool. I would not mind getting my hands on one of those T-Shirts either.

This is my Anti War Mock Up, i found this one easier than the other two mainly because the pictures are pretty self explanitory but saying that it is probably my favorite, so far anyway. I just enjoyed putting George W in with the soldiers and taking the terrified looking 'possible terrorist' out of there!

Today i handed in my Photomontage assignment, which I was pretty happy with. We also did some more on the key skills including disscusion techniques i.e what it takes to have a good disscusion. I have also made a start on the A2 mood boards, mainly printing out photos of the net. I am doing my mood boards on The Government.

Today i have put together my ideas into a more coherent, linear project.
Hopefully.
I have printed out more images, mainly as back up for my notes but also some new ones for my assignment. I have also brought, at great expence, a new hard backed A3 work book.
I have also contiued re-writing my notes into my final project.
Hopefully.

16/09/09
I have printed out some pictures of different photomontage's by different artists, i have cut these out ready to be glued on to my A3 pages. I have made more notes and have started to write these up properly also for my A3 pages.
The artist i have chosen to research is known as Neonsandwich, i like his work because it is both contridictory and to the point.
